Plot: Twin brothers Bill and Hal come across an old toy monkey in their
childhood attic - which seems to portend a string of gristly deaths. After
throwing the toy away, the brothers think they are done and gradually
drift apart as they grow older. Years later, more strange deaths occur and
they trace it back to the same toy - and now must figure out how to stop

I wish I had enjoyed this more. It featured the elements of a fun horror comedy, but it didn't resonate with me. So far, Longlegs is the only Osgood Perkins movie that I truly liked.

"The Monkey" is at its best when it embraces its absurdity. Combining R-rated Looney Tunes style gore with a cursed artifact premise, this horror-comedy metaphor for the psychological burdens truma and family can leave on us is a solid Stephen King adaptation that also works as a parody of the tropes most often found in King's stories and books.
