"Mister, I was born for it." [laughs hysterically between bouts of sobbing] Bone-chilling. I haven't seen a character as evil and cunning as Stanton Carlisle. People have said this is Guillermo del Toro's first movie in a while that doesn't feature fantasy monsters, and you probably know what I'm about to say, but the people are indeed the monsters of this movie, front and center.

While the pacing is a bit slow, del Toro makes up for it with deep and interesting characters and intriguing story. Even if it lacks some of the panache that del Toro has shown in the past, even a lesser film from the man is better than more typical offerings.

Grimy yet gorgeous, "Nightmare Alley" has some of the best production design of the year. Sadly, it's also one of the emptiest, most underwhelming, and most disconnected movies of 2021, and of visionary Guillermo del Toro's whole career.

Not great but good

Okay so on a cold winter day with nothing to do I checked this movie out on HBO max and I'll say that it's not exactly worth the praise it's getting I mean it's not horrible but it's quit far from.the big Oscar winner everyone claims it to be too it's one of the best movies of the Christmas season I'll admit to that but it's not the best all around that would have to be either the matrix reservation or spiderman no way home I mean maybe I am being too hard on it but in my eyes it dosent seem as if that's the case I mean come on you gotta admit we had a pretty good Christmas for action lovers movie wise and this just didn't fit with what we call a action film it's okay for a couple of jump scares and nothing else but it possibly the best horror of the Christmas season though
