Gloriously over-the-top with Tom Hardy fully taking charge - and upping the antics to almost-too-crazy, Venom is a lot of fun - but also feels like it is a near parody of the superhero genre. I wish there was a bit more spark with the supporting cast - Riz Ahmed plays an evil version of Elon Musk while Michelle Williams is mostly going through the motions - but, there was a great Woody Harrelson cameo that gives me hope for an even crazier sequel out there. Even if this never meshes with the current MCU, Venom can stand on its own - providing you're not looking for something serious.

Featuring the highest levels of incompetence and incoherency I've seen since "Suicide Squad" as well as the most humiliating performance of Tom Hardy's career, "Venom" is an appalling mess that functions better as a remake of the 1984 Steve Martin comedy "All of Me" than a Marvel anti-hero saga.

"I am Venom. And you are mine." This is not a superhero movie or a anti-hero film. This is a love story. It's funny how Tom Hardy has more chemistry with himself than he dose with Michelle Williams. 'Venom' is an absolutely mess of a movie, but there's never a dull moment. The acting from everyone is really bad and the action scenes are poorly filmed. Still, it's fascinating to see a movie that's so all over the place with talented people involved. Hardy climbing into a fish tank is a remarkable sight. We are Venom? More like we want money.

VENOM feels almost like a throwback to late 90s/early 2000s superhero movies like Spawn or Daredevil. Neither of which are titles that any film from any genre should wish being compared to. It's darkly lit, the action is frenetic, the tone shifts from zany to dark real fast, and the CGI is inconsistent. Venom himself looks fine but the other creatures look like out of a bad video-game. The acting is all over the place from paycheck performances by Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams to the film's centerpiece that is Tom Hardy as Venom. He is outstanding and is committed 110 percent to this role. It's mainly because of Hardy and the film's go-for-broke attitude that made me enjoy it far more than I was planning. And at ninety minutes almost exactly, it's an easy if disposable sit.

let's be clear in this review... I am a Sony hater. but I will not let that perspective get in this review. so venom a movie that was definitely needed due to the reception of Spiderman 3. is venom for everyone. no its not and should of been rated R because of the fact that the movie feels rated R but because of editing its ended up being PG-13. and there is a lot of people dying from heads being eaten and the movie does talk about heads being eaten. and who is eating the heads of people well Eddie Brock and venom. Tom Hardy does a great job with Eddie and venom and it feels like he the only one who gives a dang about the movie and the rest of the cast feels they are making dull perform and want a paycheck. the "girlfriend" of the film is just there because the movie apparently needed …
