If any actor out there can play a drunk like Dudley Moore can, I'd like to see it. Best line of the movie? "You're a HOOKER? I just thought I was doing GREAT with you." Priceless! Very funny throughout as well as skillfully developing a serious side to it. John Gielgud is terrific as the butler who waits on him hand and foot, but tries to help this spoiled brat grow up along the way. When he tells Lisa Minelli to "steal something casual" and "we must be going unless you happen to want to knock over a fruit stand later in the evening" he has me loving this character.

This is my all time favorite Comedy Movie. From the beginning to the end Dudley Moore keeps you laughing. At the dinner table when he yells out Hooker! Your'e a Hooker oh I just thought I got lucky. There were some sad parts, and some life lessons, but over all Arthur was a full on laugh.

I think this is more of a drama than a comedy, but as a portrait of a spoiled, childish man coming into his own, it is extremely well-written. There are some really subtle social class-type jokes, but it isn't laugh out loud funny. For my money, I think that makes it a superior film.
