Even for a die-hard Silent Hill fan this was pretty tough to slog through. The imagery is still pretty faithful to the series but it's the exposition that grinds things to a halt. The story is just so convoluted that I can't imagine that anyone but a hardcore fan would get anything out of it. The first one was heavy enough on that end, but this one is ridiculous. No amount of Pyramid Head or creepy nurses can fix that.

Nightmares haunt Heather Mason, and the disappearance of her father urges her to go to a burning city where she meets creatures only in hell she can imagine them living. *** Watching the movie without a background (I have not seen the first movie!), it was really confusing. The good part was that I still had a plot to follow on which was: she has to go place to save her father, a place where her father does not want her to go to. Another thing, I really appreciated the visuals and special effects. I also like the concepts of those creepy creatures, my favorite was the nurses! Indeed, not a good film, but still got something to offer to kill boredom or what have you.

Unfortunately, that was not enough. While SILENT HILL 3 certainly had the potential to be adapted into a fantastic and disturbing feature film that touched on complex religious themes, what came out was a rambling mess that I can only imagine was completely incoherent to anyone not a fan. Characters literally have to be sat down and told large chunks of plot in order for …
