It's got everything you'd expect in a prison movie: oppressed inmates, gang factions, do-gooder criminals, and a climactic riot scene. The tropes are covered mildly well. The tough, dirty presentation doesn't come off as harsh as the film is trying to make itself out to be. I'd be more forgiving if the characters were worth more investment. Good for what it is.

I thought this movie was good. It's not your typical prison break movie. It reminds me a lot of the classic film noir movies. It's definitely well worth a watch.
