An interesting look at coalminers in America who wage a strike. The use of music is interesting. It features "O Death" which can also be found in the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou."

Grass roots organizing, the interactions between the miners and the community, the strong role women played in the strike, the tensions between the strikers and the Mine owners are some of the strong points of this film. Barbara Kopple goes to live with them, so she's able to show us their daily struggles.
