Michael Crichton's xenophobic bestseller gets adapted for the big screen and it's amusingly dated in regards to its 'clash of civilizations' approach to American-Japanese relations but entertaining thanks to the unlikely pairing of Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery. There's something about the original James Bond dropping f-bombs and choking out bouncers that's too good to write off. Harvey Keitel is the only weak link as a histrionically racist LAPD cop. There are some nicely done plot twists and the central mystery is actually pretty intriguing stuff.

The usual mix of culture clash/buddy movie/cheesy cop thriller based around Japanese businessmen operating in America. Simplistic and casually racist.

This was a decent movie. It had the potential to be better though.

This mid 90's adaptation of Michael Crichton's Japanophobic novel combines naughty sex, murder, cultural misunderstandings, bribery and racial intolerance into a surprisingly effective film. Connery and Snipes play well off each other, while the supporting cast includes a few gems (Tia Carrerre & Harvey Keitel).
