Yet another Jack Nicholson film that gets lauded over, but I thought was crap. And I LIKE Jack!

It's nowhere near the director's earlier works, but Prizzi's Honor is a fun black comedy with a cast of demented characters played by talented actors. The writing is a bit slow at times, but the acting saves some of the scenes from being too corny. Nicholson isn't that great in this, but, fortunately, Anjelica Huston is.

The film badly needed a better screenplay to really utilize the talents of the cast. Its score was gorgeous and the acting superb, the plot was very disorganized and the quick relationships didn't help either. The Godfather influences like "beware of the cannoli's" and one of the music played just doesn't make this mafia related picture remotely near the perfection of the aforementioned movie. Character build-up was all over the place. Irene and Chaeley killing each other was just too depressing and it didn't have much action and proper direction. Prizzi's Honor is worth a look but definitely nothing great, or even good at that matter.

I saw it recently. Though it has a great cast and director of course, it just doesn't work.
