This is the funniest Hughes film by far! Candy is a gem and it's too bad he's now gone. He plays the best clingy, obnoxious, loudmouth, yet lovable, trouble making slob! Martin is great as the uptight, conservative businessman. Together they make for the funniest, unlikely pair of holiday travelers. Anything and everything that can go wrong does as they try to make their way home for Thanksgiving when all flights are canceled.

Candy was perhaps my favorite comedic actor during the 1980's, and he does not disappoint in this quirky, funny, and even a little bit sad film. I've always wondered if a little bit of Candy's own life didn't provide the inspiration for the Del character; from what I've heard Candy had a hard time seeing how he fit in as an actor. At any rate, Steven Martin and John Candy were the perfect actors to play the characters in this movie and provide excellent on-screen magic. This movie is one of the few Thanksgiving holiday movies out there. If you'd like to see more of Candy's antics, check out Uncle Buck.

I love this movie. First of all, I love watching John Candy and I really miss him. Secondly, you wont find very often so much chemistry between two actors. The movie is a lot of fun, a lot of tender and is a fantastic comedy. The character played by Candy is perfect. I often used to think of me as that character. Don't miss it if you're looking for a refreshing film.

One of the better "odd couple" comedies in which you take your normal guy (in this case Steve Martin) pair him up with the buffoon (in this case John Candy) and see what hilarity ensues. A classic 80s comedy that shouldn't be missed.
