The prestige was a bit too difficult to comprehend, unlike the illusionist which has a simpler concept. The story was reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet minus the tragedy. Acting was pretty basic, not much skill was used in their performances. I was definitely mesmerized by Biel’s beauty but not her acting. Norton’s illusions were almost entertaining, but I rather wished he had done more. Like something that would blow one’s mind. At the end of it all everybody got what they deserved. The main characters making out and bad guy in jail whoopee.

One of the worst movies for this year. See the Prestige if you want to see a magician film. Paul Giamatti's accent was all over the place. Despite Edward Norton being an excellent actor, Jessica Biel just can't act and gave one of the worst performances of any human being ever.

Edward Norton delivers another great performance and even Jessica Biel is tolerable. Paul Giamatti is likewise excellent as a police chief struggling with his conscience. The end stretches things a bit, but overall I was impressed.

One thing that other reviews haven't touched upon is the music of Philip Glass. From the opening theme I realized that I was in for a treat and the film did not disappoint. To imagine this film in another composer's hands does not necessarily mean that it would not have been well executed, merely that the editor must have had his music already in his head because it all fits so well. Excellent performances by the leads.

Edward Norton?s most powerful role to date and that is saying a lot! Everything about this movie is amazing. The acting, the magic, the suspense and the mysterious aura that surrounds everything provides for a spectacular movie with an even more interesting ending. Norton?s character, Eisenheim, was equal to that of Edmond Dantes from The Count of Monte Cristo. By this I mean, both characters achieve a ?more than human? persona that makes them seem invulnerable. The Director, Neil Burger who really hasn?t done anything to date, really hit a home run with keeping the mystery and suspense going until the very end.

I liked this movie. There were several things about it that I enjoyed. The magic was very interesting, and Norton's performance was great (it could have been better with out the annoying fake accent). Biel's accent is poor at best, but Giamatti's is, as always, perfect. The story line was very fairy tale like. The music, costumes, and setting were gorgeous and a pleasure to watch and view. The ending let me down and some of the character interactions were a little too little. Still, recommended.
