Journeying into familiar territory while avoiding the easy pitfalls that typically come with inspirational true stories, the narrative cuts deeper and explores more layers than almost any other biographical or sports movie. "The Hurricane" is more about the prejudices and injustices that exist in America, mainly in its legal system and law enforcement, than it is about boxing.

Denzel Washington gives an underappreciated, simmering performance of a man falsely imprisoned. The film balances the legal thrill of the team trying to prove Hurricane's innocence with Washington's character's own outbursts of genuine emotion. It's entirely engrossing and moving.

One of Denzel's most memorable performances. I really enjoyed watching this film on the theater. The supporting actors did a decent job and the plot/script was enlightening. Its theme is universal, having friends and the love/trust rendered was displayed efficiently. The style of direction was really good. A real life Shawshank Redemption, a must see film.

It's very sad story. But, you can really believe every part of it.

An amazing movie. I am surprised that so few people have seen it. Denzel Washington gives one of his greatest performances, for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor. An inspirational classic that deserves a larger following.
