Best movie I've ever seen. Eva Green and Louis Garrel are just perfect. Michael Pitt does a good job too. It's a must watch.

If you are a junkie for the neorealism era of history in film, music, & art, like I am, you'll love this film's recreation of class struggles in France and an embracing of Bohemian lifestyle. That's what I loved about the film and it's these homages to classic films that I enjoyed. I personally found the explicit sex & relationship stuff a little melodramatic and, actually, the film would have been more of a success if it had toned that part of the film down.

I imagined this as an entrant into the Emmanuelle franchise ('The Early Years') with Eva Green taking on the role of the erotic icon in her student days, circa Paris 1968. Her brother and a young American join her in this romp, and they argue endlessly and tediously about rock music and films while Emmanuelle strolls around the apartment, sans kit, occasionally pausing for a shag. But she too has in interest films, and to illustrate this Bertlolucci throws in a few clips of the classics. Unfortunately, the net effect is to make you wish you were watching any one of them in its entirety rather than this load of rubbish.

Wonderfully sensual and an excellent snapshot of film history, The Dreamers pushes the envelope and leaves an undeniable impression.
