Interesting, but not overly impressive. "Argo" is a largely unremarkable political thriller that inflates its own importance with historical inaccuracies.

The story is about Six Americans are hiding out at the Canadian Embassy as the Iranian revolution reaches critical mass. It's up to a CIA agent who specialized in "exfiltration" to get the Americans to safety with a risky escape plan. the title of this movie Argo sound's a bit like the movie Hugo. this is so far the best movie of the year I mean the directing and the writing is brilliant.

Argo has been sweeping up awards over the past couple of months, and it seems to be the lock for Best Picture. While I do think it is a good film, it's still nothing extraordinary. Just a simple story told well, both entertaining and informative. I can see why mainstream audiences would like it. Definitely worth a watch, Affleck has become quite a solid director, even if he doesn't have much of a unique voice as a film maker. He does know how to sustain a good amount of suspense though.

As of 11-26-12 my favorite film of the year. Most people going into this will probably know the story, although I consider myself quite the history buff, I did not know this part of the Iranian hostage story. Ben Affleck, who by now has made everyone forget Gigli, has turned into a master director, great at building tension in all right places. The film also features a great soundtrack. They even paid the big bucks to get Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" into the film. A must see!

A great historical political thriller - this one makes you feel like you're there, in the era. Hats off to Ben Affleck - he continues to get better - in this, his third shot at the director helm. Well worth seeing at the theater, more than once. Ensemble cast, Cranston, Goodman, a ton of others... and Alan Arkin is even better than in his 'Little Miss Sunshine' role. Above all it's an ultimate feel good with suspense throughout - regardless of how hard and loose Hollywood played with the facts. See it on the big screen!

From what I gather, this film stays fairly close to the real life story and I think it's made all the better for it. Affleck delivers solid directing and acting once again. The whole cast does their best, as well. The finale is quite tense. This is an all-around well made film and is mostly what I expected it to be.

Such a good movie!!! It tells the TRUE story very well! I really liked it. It was intense but not too intense. Serious but not too serious. It had just the right amount of comedy as well. Ben Affleck is such a good director and actor! Can't believe he starred in his own movie! so cool! Definitely recommend this one to people who like to learn about history. It is a little confusing if you don't know the background and it gets a little slow in the beginning but the movie is excellent. Awesome job, Ben Affleck!
