While it may not inspire as much as it would like, the brilliant performance of Michelle Williams elevates a somewhat flat drama. The rest of the cast is good as well, especially Judi Dench as Dame Sybil Thorndike, Kenneth Branaugh as Sir Laurence Olivier and Eddie Redmayne as the overly-eager Colin Clark who comes away with a dose of reality. Not earth-shattering, but worth watching simply for the cast they put together.

In the early summer of 1956, 23 year-old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne), just down from Oxford and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set of 'The Prince and the Showgirl'. The film that famously united Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams), who was also on honeymoon with her new husband. The actress Michelle Williams who played Marilyn Monroe give that actress a Oscar for her Incredible acting and the rest of the cast in the movie and the crew are all awesome.

I thought this movie was strangely captivating. I didn't expect to like it very much, but I thought it was really good.I think good acting takes a movie a very long way. Michelle Williams was awesome as was Kenneth Branagh. Emma Watson's talent was wasted. That role could have gone top any up and coming actress. But good minute overall.

Marilyn Monroe joins Sir Laurence Olivier's film in London where a film student, Colin Clark, witnesses the relationship between a great actor and the blonde bombshell. *** The film is good but it falls short on the emotion, the heart and soul of the entire picture. I believe that this biography of Marilyn Monroe centers on the feelings, the passion, which are inside an iconic star. Nevertheless, Michelle Williams did a good job on portraying, or should I say embracing the character Marilyn Monroe. She almost made me believe that she is Marilyn Monroe.

A movie that just sort of slowly moves along. I didn't mind the story and found it interesting - one man's experiences with Marilyn Monroe while she shoots her scenes for Laurence Olivier's The Prince and the Showgirl is the basis here. I thought the film was pretty well cast, particularly Branagh as Olivier. But it just wasn't a really enjoyable film. And though Michelle Williams throws herself into the role, I never really bought her as Marilyn - seemed more like a caricature. I think this could have been decent but it feels like we've watched the middle of something without a beginning or ending.

There's a lot of great stuff about this movie. But, it's very difficult to do a true story movie. And this movie is lacking something that I can't quite put my finger on.
