This funny movie introduced me to Kevin Smith

This is one of those films that i would've never rented or seen in the theatre on my own recognition however once seeing it now remains in my fave movies of all time list (#49 out of 100 to be exact) It is also the film that introduced me to Kevin Smith. Well the main reason for this weekends re-watch of this great and funny film was my son had yet to see it (He loved it too). Much like director Judd Apatow, Kevin Smith has a major niche for creating awesome dialogue between his charectors for example the scene in which Randall (Jeff Anderson) picks on a dork who comes in to Mooby's for some food and fellow co-worker and super nerd Elias Grover (Trevor Ferhman) for their love of The Lord Of The Rings movies saying thatt all 3 films are about the charectors walking aroun and that there …

Not a Replica of the First

This sequel doesn't feel as "indie" as its predecessor but I still managed to see the good in it. I must salute Rosario Dawson for lighting up every scene she's in. I can't put my finger on it but every time she smiles, I feel lighter and was very interested in what she's got to say. I also enjoyed the bit regarding the "Star Wars" versus "The Lord of the Rings." That scene with Kevin Weisman was nothing short of utter hilarity and brilliance. I enjoyed him in "Alias" and seeing him here made me quite nostalgic. The only factor that felt somewhat forced was the Jay and Silent Bob characters. They were funny at first but it got rendundant. Although this movie is more self-aware than the first, I did like its change of tone. I thought it was a good move for Kevin Smith to not try and …

Dante and Randal grow up

The movie was hilarious. As Kevin himself said, if he didn't make any more View Askewniverse movies(not that he won't, he still might down the road) this and Clerks make great bookends for the series. I think Elias, played by Trevor Fehrman surprised me the most. He did an amazing job. Kevin also did a great job casting Rosario Dawson. I am now in love with her. Dante & Randal's dynamic was great as always. It's good to see Jeff Anderson in a starring role again. I love that guy. So that's pretty much how I feel about Clerks 2. I definitely want to watch it again. I will warn you that, like the rest of Kevin's flicks (except Jersey Gir)l, it's a very hard R. So if you have a problem with that, don't see the movie or wait for the watered down TV version, which will probably be hilarious.

Hard "R" with heart

I was more excited about this movie than any other in recent years, and was not let down. Kevin Smith did a great job of showing what happened to Dante and Randall 10 years after the original. I think it is pretty amazing that characters that were created by a 21 year old who dropped out of film school in a movie that only cost around $25K to make were written well enough to hold up over the years and have enough of a story that you'll care enough to see where they ended up when entering their 30's. Most of the movie is pretty raunchy humor, but ends up being a pretty touching story by the end, believe it or not. If this ends up being the final movie in Kevin Smith's "Jersey Series", it is a much more fitting end than Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, the original final chapter of …
