Quite a different film for those expecting a retread of Tim Burton's campy and unnecessary remake of the 1968 sci-fi classic. Though this film unfortunately sidesteps any truly interesting examinations of the ethics of its scientific research, it does shine when portraying a full-scale war between humans and apes in the final third of the film. Andy Serkis should be recognized, also, for his nuanced performance that manages to breathe life into a digital creation. Surprisingly, pretty good.

The Film was amazing, the effects fantastic and the acting great. The team really managed to pull this off as i am not a fan of the planet of the apes film franchise but having said this...IT WAS AMAZING i loved every bit of the film and the film was not boring..there was parts of the film that could of been an bit better (the ending disapointed mebut i wont mention it for those who still have not seen it)

One of the best movies of the summer and possibly the year. Great story and an exceptional performance from the main ape, Caesar. The best of the 'Apes' series since the original film.

Whenever I see a prequel coming out based off of an older popular movie I'm always worried that it will be poor attempt at rebooting a long ago dead series. With advancements in CGI, this movie is obviously a candidate. I had low expectations going into this movie and was happily surprised with what I saw. The CGI was pretty good, but didn't take away from the movie and story itself. The acting was good and the movie kept me engaged throughout. This is one of the better movies for the year. Where they can take this series in the future has great potential. I hope they make all the right decisions.

This film was much better than I expected it to be; it had a decent enough storyline and it was actually well cast. It was one of the best prequels I've seen, leaving just enough to the imagination without overdoing it. Overall, it was enjoyable, but I think there could of been just a little bit more 'something' to give it the kind of edge that would make it an epic.
