I was thinking this was gonna be another 'Man-Child' movie, which has been overplayed and hasn't been funny since step-brothers. This actually is much better than that genre. It is more of a comedy-drama where Jonah Hill's character is realistic and believable. It wasn't over the top with his or Reily's antics. Wasn't anything special, but wasn't bad and worth a watch. And Marisa Tomei is still hot as can be.

Not a bad movie but not a good 1 either.Something was off for me & I felt awkward watching it for some reason. It really didn't seem to pick up till after the fight at the wedding.2 & a half stars for the ending which I really liked though

A drama-dy that barely delivers any drama or comedy. It's the same type of indie looking film we've seen a hundred times by now. I was just flat out bored. I'm almost certain that the quotes on the dvd are borrowed from reviews for another film. There is no way those uptight critics could've said those things about THIS movie.

This incredibly clever comedy was a must-see from film festivals, and it worked! Yes, slow and genuous, "Cyrus" had masked humor, relying on real sitiuations for its comedic workings, not even remotely going towards a "slapstick" or "parody" comedy, but staying true to the ultra-reality of this strange, yet quixotic relationship. The cast was simply inspired, with John C. Reilly utilizing talents not on "Tim and Eric" and getting back to the true art of acting in film. Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei offer a great supporting cast, along with Catherine Keener. A wonderfully jovial, yet moving film.

To really appreciate this film, you have to understand the understated "mumblecore" dialogue and characters that make this film work as hyper-realistic awkward drama. Yes, there are some great comedic moments, but the film is, by and large, a relationship drama about real people and the more human moments were what worked for me the most.

This movie was refreshingly good relative to the high budget thrillers normally seen in the summer. Although paced somewhat slowly, it was not boring at any point. The humor was more low key, but certainly still present. This movie is more about the acting than the flashy tricks of the high budget films. The whole cast gives great performances. You should see it.

Nope, not good. I can't say that I didn't laugh a few times, but I really felt bored and wanted to get out of that movie theater!
