In a world full of love stories that have happy endings, this doomed romance stands out, but for no other reason than that, I failed to see what's so remarkable about it.

Realistic and honest, and both beautiful and tragic, Blue Valentine grips you and never lets go. Gosling and Williams give astounding performances, truly heartbreaking, devastating performances. This film is unforgettable and powerful. One of the best films of 2010!

Conveys all the positive and negative aspects of a relationship, with believability. This story is portrayed in a realistic manner that makes you forget you're watching a film. The tremendous acting, from the two leads, brings us closer to feeling the emotions of their characters. The result is truly heartbreaking.

Love isn't like a romantic comedy - it's much more like Blue Valentine - at turns heartbreaking and utterly undeniable - Gosling and Williams are both outstanding. It's not always easy to watch, but love isn't supposed to be easy - you have to work for it and it doesn't always work out. Watch it - you won't regret it.

This is an incredible thought-provoking film about the highs and lows of love. The performances are real and among the best of the year. The score by Grizzly Bear deserves special mention for the way it subtly adds to some of the more powerful scenes of the film. This is a film with great emotional power. During the more light scenes that show the beginnings of young love, the feeling is nostalgic and magical. When the film shows the fights and heartbreak love often brings, it feels like you are being punched in the gut. A shattering film experience.
