There were so many things to like about this movie, its almost sickening. First and foremost, the creation of Facebook, a worldwide phenomenon, is a perfect story to tell, especially in an age where information is really the only weapon and entertainment we have. Director David Fincher combines successfully the techno-biopic with personal characterizations and a very suspense-filled aura that fills the theatre as you watch. Actors Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield are very fine in their portrayals of people we haven't really gotten to know yet, but are making headlines as much as they are making friends. Justin Timberlake is stellar as Sean Parker, inventor and founder of Napster, which is deservedly Supporting Actor Oscar material, hands down. Aron Sorkin's writing has very …

It's not really a documentary as Alex says, but it is based on fact. The writer, Aaron Sorkin, used actual court documents to help in the writing of this film. It's the best movie of the year so far, and it will probably be the best film of the year. Yes, even better than Inception. No, the rewatchability (I think I just made that word up) factor isn't there, but everything about this is great. The acting is superb, Eisenberg, as Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, impressed me, but Justin Timberlake is great as Napster founder Sean Parker. The best acting he's ever done, and it very well could win him the Oscar.
I've now had a few days to think this film over, and it not only is a great story, on of betrayal, heartbreak, drugs, sex, and ultimately success, but it's a telling …

Documentary of Facebook

If you don't use Facebook and have no interest in social networking, this movie will bore you. Ask my wife. If you use facebook daily, or perhaps even own your own social network, this movie will educate you. And if you have desires of someday being worth 25 Billion dollars, this movie will inspire you.
Mostly a documentary, it is a very interesting look at the early days of Facebook and its creators. Not sure how much is true or how much is exagerated, but take it for what it is worth - a movie about Facebook.
Acting was solid, story on par, and direction good. But, I must say I was disappointed in Fincher. He usually harnesses visual style. This definately lacked in this movie. Nothing cool, nothing great about it. Just standard direction. Hell, maybe that's what Hollywood wants …

When I first heard about this Facebook movie, I admit I was skeptical. While I do have a profile page, I'm lucky if I check is once a week - maybe once a month. I don't do that Farmville crap, I don't update, I don't post comments - heck, I joined mainly to find out who else joined. So my attitude toward the whole thing was "meh".
Yet when I saw David Fincher was involved, I was intrigued because the man has never let me down. Then when the buzz began to build, I became not only interested, but maybe even a little anxious. Now that I've seen it, I can say that it's a movie that may define a generation - maybe not my generation, but I think it's a film that should continue to be seen not just for the characters, but for the actual idea behind social media.
