"Affliction" is a shocking, unapologetically gloomy movie. Nick Nolte is amazing as a man at the end of his rope, fighting tooth and nail to keep everyone and everything he cares about, while simultaneously being the driving force destroying and pushing them away. A heart-wrenching meditation on the domestic violence and the human condition.

The machismo in this movie is pretty thick. And the scene with his tooth is awesome. So yeah, I liked it.
