Serious head trauma, what a barrel of laughs, eh? In this somewhat tasteless rip-off of Groundhog Day, the rom works, but the com doesn't. As a result, the first half is exactly like every other crass Adam Sandler vehicle (ie irritating and unfunny). Only when the romance blossoms with the endearingly sweet Drew Barrymore does it engage at all. But not once did it make me laugh.

The music in this film was brilliant, it couldn't have been any better. The characters are memorable and perfect. This wasn't quite Adam Sandler's best role, but the cast he was surrounded by more than made up for it. Even still, a Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler creation is hard to resist. It's a film that you can't really grow tired of. It's downright timeless.

I think it had a lot of potential, but it's not handled with any amount of tenderness and seems to be written by a 14 year old boy at times, squandering what charm it does have. People getting hit with a bat IS funny though.

50 First Dates was a very sweet movie. Drew Barrymore, and Adam Sandler are the perfect comedy couple for these type of movies. This movie was very good, it would mostly fall on romanticism, than comedy. You will laugh in some parts, but it's mostly emotional. Barrymore was perfect for the role of "Lucy Whitmore". "Ula", Rob's character was very funny, and stupid. Overall this movie is a great film.

There are tinges of shrewd emotional reality to this comedy, but it loses a lot of its charm due to pointless gross-out moments and Rob Schneider's annoying supporting character.
