Comedy Gold

Just by looking at the plot of this movie I can already guess this is gold comedy and boy was I right about that.
The Circus is about are main character the Tramp accidentally gets in trouble with the law by a pickpocket. He then stumbles into a Circus wherein he becomes a star. Merna sees the Tramp and eventually become friends. He falls for her but she falls for a handsome tightrope walker.
Okay I'm going just come out and say that Chaplin is by far better than The Three Stooges when it comes to comedy and slap stick humor with a little salt of heart. I given Chaplin's movies positive after positive ratings and so far no bad that I know of, yeah there might be some bad out there but I've seen it yet. Better Than Barnum and Bailey

This movie has my favorite scene of all Chaplin fare. The maze of mirrors sequence always gives me goose bumps. I am not 100% certain that he was the first filmmaker to do this (Georges Melies may have used such trickery) but for it to be 1928 and capture the scene in front of several mirrors without the camera or crew being seen amazes me. I have not had one bad experience watching Chaplin films. I recommend anything with his name on it from Kid Auto Races to Limelight. (Ive not seen King in New York nor Countess in Hong Kong, though I will as time and accessibility permit) I believe being a true film lover means going back to its great roots and Chaplin movies are a great starting point if you love comedies, then treat your palate to some Buster Keaton, WC Fields, or Harold Lloyd,

The Tramp (Charlie Chaplin) gets between the law and a pickpocket. He then accidentally becomes part of a Circus. The crowd jeers and seeks The Funny Man. Seeing that he is well liked, the Ring Master allows him to audition. He also meets the Ring Master's daughter, Merna (Merna Kennedy), who is also the Circus Rider. One of the best messages from the picture - "Take your time" and "I've had a charmed life." Chaplin demonstrates his genius not only in writing/directing/producing, but also in creating the score while acting, climbing down a pole and walking o a tight rope while being funny. So many laughable scenes such as the horse scene, mocking Rex the Tight Rope walker while doing his act and The Tramp replacing him during his act. An underrated film on starting over, chances, …
