The Circus review

The Tramp (Charlie Chaplin) gets between the law and a pickpocket. He then accidentally becomes part of a Circus. The crowd jeers and seeks The Funny Man. Seeing that he is well liked, the Ring Master allows him to audition. He also meets the Ring Master's daughter, Merna (Merna Kennedy), who is also the Circus Rider. One of the best messages from the picture - "Take your time" and "I've had a charmed life." Chaplin demonstrates his genius not only in writing/directing/producing, but also in creating the score while acting, climbing down a pole and walking o a tight rope while being funny. So many laughable scenes such as the horse scene, mocking Rex the Tight Rope walker while doing his act and The Tramp replacing him during his act. An underrated film on starting over, chances, cruelty, love, marriage, jealousy, heartache, kind-hardheartedness and entertainment. Definitely re-watchable and one of Chaplin's unpopular best pictures he ever produced in this critic's opinion.
