The black principal doesn't die first in this one. Watched it because somebody called it an Red Dawn ripoff at first I didn't want to watch it because..oh well terrorists boring. It's more upbeat and less grinding on emotional / patriotic feelings.

One of those fun rebellious teen films that actually has a decent plot and even better acting. There is good action going on, but it also manages to keep you in suspense rather than go for the easy way out. Interesting and inventive.

Sean Astin had already had a good start on his career by this point. Louis Gossett Jr. had a big career behind him in both film and television, and Wil Wheaton hadn't yet been known as Wesley Crusher yet. The movie was very well written, it had plenty of action, and a good deal of suspense. Toy Soldiers is fun. It has the whole insubordination from teenagers to unwanted members of authority, i.e. hostage takers. It's fun to see kids take over when they're being held to something they don't want to do. Over all while the movie was rather underrated, it was pretty decent.

One of my all time favorites. Has some really good suspenseful scenes and good plotting by the kids to take back the school.
