Armed with an enormous budget, Travis Knight successfully translates the classic 1980s cartoon as a live-action 1980s cartoon.
The cast all knew the assignment and deliver fun performances. The MVP is Jared Leto as Skeletor. He is hilarious but also menacing.
The visual style purposefully eschews gritty realism in favor of bright colors and sheer lunacy. The costume design looks great.
If there is one downside is that the humor does not always work. But it is not annoying or anything too crude. The scenes that take place on Earth are mostly boring. Except for one dream sequence that you have to see to believe.
Luckily not much time is spent on Earth. Thank goodness because Travis Knight did such a good job with Eternia.
