There is actually a solid family drama at the center of this monster flick. The sibling rivalry between the brothers and Nicolas Cage's guidance as their father is compelling stuff. The monsters have an utterly bizarre design and are memorably weird. Don't expect them on-screen that much. If you can see them. A major problem holding this movie back is the camera-work is horrible. It is constantly set on shaky-cam even when it's just a dialogue-heavy scene.
