A Lion is in the Streets

Political drama about a populist peddler who gains power in the Depression-era bayou, only to become wrapped up in corruption and scheming. It has similarities to 'ALL THE KING'S MEN' and James Cagney's role is eerily identical to Willie Stark in the latter work. But it has its share of memorably strange moments. Like an exoneration of a dead man or a love triangle settled by an alligator attack. The technicolor cinematography looks good too.
