Danny Boyle lends his hand at a darkly comedic yet strangely sweet fantasy.
Cameron Diaz is wonderful as the spoiled sexy heiress who’s charmed by a hapless janitor (MacGregor) who unintentionally kidnaps her. Watching their romance blossom are two angels (Hunter, Lindo) assigned to make sure they fall in love.
The setup is undeniably weird. And it’s kind of obvious after a while that the supernatural element is meant to serve as a sort of cheat code for a fulfilling end.
But I had fun with it. Good soundtrack as well.
