Dave Bautista shines as a discount John McClane.

Dave Bautista carries this Die Hard clone which is actually better than expected. Much better.
Basically what happens is that Russian terrorists (led by Ray Stevenson) take an entire London stadium hostage. At the same time, an ex-soldier (Bautista) attending with his niece stumbles upon the situation.
Bautista plays the Bruce Willis Part well. He’s clearly in good shape for the tense action scenes but is able to convey enough gravitas to make the emotional moments seem sincere. Stevenson and his gang are one-note baddies but they’re useful opponents for some pretty brutal fights and chases. Special attention should be given to two supporting actors. The first is Amit Shah who plays Bautista’s sidekick and the comedy relief. He’s quite funny in this. Second is Alexandra Dinu as a sadistic and scarily competent henchwoman.
Pierce Brosnan’s role is essentially a glorified cameo and nothing more.
Final Score is a capably handled popcorn flick that was far better than it had any reason to be. A pleasant surprise!
