True Confessions (1981)

Adapted from the John Gregory Dunne book, this mystery drama examines how power, religion, sex, and politics collide in postwar Los Angeles. Two brothers, one a cop the other a priest, find themselves on opposing sides when a prostitute is murdered and the Catholic Church is implicated in organized crime activity. It's well acted and reasonably well directed. Unfortunately it's much more of a mood piece instead of an actual thriller. And it moves very slowly.
