Another 48 Hrs.

Confusing mess of a sequel to buddy cop classic.

Walter Hill reunites with Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte for this sequel to the 1982 hit. Except it's nowhere close as good and is barely watchable aside from the least demanding coach potatoes.
It's more mean spirited towards both its lead characters and makes a lot of jokes at their expense. There's no love interest for either and both Nolte and Murphy are strangely unlikable in this. Murphy gets off a little bit better because he's still comic relief and is great at delivering one-liners. Nolte just sounds tired and whiny.
Familiar character actors like Brion James, Kevin Tighe, and Ed O'Ross are wasted in the near incomprehensible plot. Evidently it was supposed to be a longer film but was cut to barely 90 minutes. It shows. Some characters I cannot tell if they were killed or not. There are a few action beats that aren't badly shot and Murphy does provide sparse amusement.
