The Hurricane Heist

Jig is up for the Hurricane Heist.

Rob Cohen tries to recapture the spirit of cheesy disaster-action movies from the 1990s and early 2000s. Unfortunately, while The Hurricane Heist is no less ridiculous than those movies, it is nowhere close as much fun. Its cast may be full of recognizable character actors but they cannot carry a film like this on their own.
Englishman Toby Kebbell boasts an awful American accent while the Aussie Ryan Kwanten sounds like a generic meathead redneck. Maggie Grace seems embarrassed to be here. Only Ralph Ineson (The VVitch) seems credible as the criminal mastermind planning the ambitious robbery. He seems like a poor man's Alan Rickman.
The CGI is lackluster and everything is so darkly lit that the action is hard to follow. Only towards the end of the film does it seem to develop a sense of fun and humor. But it's too late.
