This movie is about 2/3 hurricane and 1/3 heist - much more Twister than Hard Rain. Still, if you enjoy brainless action, this is a lot of fun, stupid, but still fun. Plus, it's fun to watch Maggie Grace kick a little ass. If you've enjoyed disaster movies in the past, this is right up your alley.

Jig is up for the Hurricane Heist.

Rob Cohen tries to recapture the spirit of cheesy disaster-action movies from the 1990s and early 2000s. Unfortunately, while The Hurricane Heist is no less ridiculous than those movies, it is nowhere close as much fun. Its cast may be full of recognizable character actors but they cannot carry a film like this on their own.
Englishman Toby Kebbell boasts an awful American accent while the Aussie Ryan Kwanten sounds like a generic meathead redneck. Maggie Grace seems embarrassed to be here. Only Ralph Ineson (The VVitch) seems credible as the criminal mastermind planning the ambitious robbery. He seems like a poor man's Alan Rickman.
The CGI is lackluster and everything is so darkly lit that the action is hard to follow. Only towards the end of the film does it seem to develop a sense...

Some morons planning a heist during a hurricane.

"You’re underestimating her.
I can smell it."

Sometimes a person wonders why nonsense movies like “The Hurricane Heist” are being made. It’s a mixture of “American Heist” with “Into the Storm“. Actually, this disaster film (all aspects of this movie are kind of a disaster by the way) looks like “Den of Thieves“. Here too a gang of criminals get the bright idea of stealing money which is doomed to go through the paper shredder. Money that’s about to be taken out of circulation and so no longer will exist. Only the savvy bank robbers hoped that the authorities would think that the stolen money (squeezed in three whoppers of trucks) disappeared because of an onrushing hurricane (category 5). The amount of money they want to steal is around $ 600 million. T...
