Steve Jobs

Man Behind the Machine

'Steve Jobs' is the latest (and greatest) biopic of the man behind Apple's success. This film does nothing to glorify the man's achievements. It's a complete character study that lays bare the complexities of his working/personal relationships brought on by his counteractive personality. He's a harsh career minded individual, but he's never made out to be a villain. We gain much insight into these characters. The three act structure is, essentially, three big scenes that cover three significant periods in Job's career that also coincide with his personal life. This format still delivers a complete three act narrative, with a surprising subtle emotional through-line between Jobs and his daughter. It is set up and paid off in a way that adds a nice little bit of redemption in the finale. Excellent acting and dialogue kept me completely invested from beginning to end. Anyone who enjoyed 'The Social Network' will definitely want to see this.
