Django Unchained

Another powerhouse film by Tarantino!

Not being biased here for those that know me also know that director Quentin Tarantino is number 2 on my best directors of all time list. However with that being said, this movie quite simply put...rocked!! I also have to shout a comment from left field (sort of) that Christolph Waltz is the F***ing man!!! I have seen a million westerns in my time however only a few were nominated in my mind as being any good. Movies such as The Wild Bunch, Unforgiven, Tombstone for example. Django Unchained can also stand proudly amongst these favorite westerns of mine. Tarantino once again scores top marks again this time venturing into the wild west to deliver the ultimate tale of revenge. I noticed that Tarantino must've been a fan of Peckinpah's western style as many of Django's scenes, expecially the slo-mo gun fights with loads of splashing blood brought memories of The Wild Bunch to mind. If you have never seen one of Tarantino's directed masterpieces although have seen The Wild Bunch and enjoyed it then by all means make this your first of Quentin's as well.

Ever since first laying eyes upon actor Christolph Waltz in the last epic that Tarantino brought to the big screen Inglorious Basterds i became an instant fan. all I can do is cheer everytime he works with Tarantino as the man is a freaking artist who delivers each and every word from the scripts given with the utmost sincerity, to put it quite simply...he makes you a believer. Django starts off with Django himself(Foxx) marching as part of a line of sold slaves only to have his trek interrupted by an german bounty hunter named Dr. King Shultz (Waltz) . After quickly disposing of the men holding the slaves he frees Django and he informs Django that he needs his assistance in taking down the Candie plantation owned by a ruthless tyrant who seems to own quite a few slave contracts, one being Django's own wife Broomhilda (played brilliantly by Kerry Washington) Needless to say revenge is on Django's mind! Only Calvin Candie (Another brilliant performance by Leonardo Dicaprio) own band of desperados might have something to say about it??..
