Revolutionary Road

Second Best Movie of 2008

I had pretty high expectations from this movie. Mostly stemming from Mendes amazing work on several films (his best being American Beauty). This is not as good, but is still damn good none the less. I also really want to see it for Kate and Leo, back together.

For those of you who feel that marriage without a fight exists, this movie may not be for you. For those who feel that marriage is the same in the 50's as it is today may not enjoy this film. For those of you who really want a satisfying love story, this is not for you.

This movie is about the growth of suburbia, the American Dream, being stuck in a trap, and wanting something that most people don't want for decades later. I really enjoyed this movie and only time will tell how good it is to me.

The movie starts out as I expected. Kate and Leo meet, fall in love, get married have kids fight, argue, hate their jobs. The cinematography is great, the story is right on music is good enough (though underused - I felt they could have used more the score and more music from the times to really give it that 50s feel). There is enough twist and turns, hopes and dreams, drama, and true life stories for any "drama" fan.

An extremely well shot 50s drama that says something to every man and woman who desire something else. The best movie of the year (well, almost). Be ware, most will disagree with me.
