Not much not to like here, as Oppenheimer covers all bases in that it stuns as a historical epic, has a great script that delves into the politics of the time from all sides without bashing the US, and has stand out performances across the board from Cillian Murphy’s intense acting in the the title roll, to a brilliant Robert Downey Jr., and excellent turns from Matt Damon, Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt. Director Christopher Nolan brings it all home on the technical front, and nails all of the moral implications of building the first atomic bomb perfectly. Only negative is the movie is a bit long at three hours, but it still easily stands as one of the year’s best films.

Christopher Nolan is such a director, and when you watch "Oppenheimer," his 3-hour symphony featuring a top-notch cast, masterful cinematography, captivating score, and brutal dramatic intensity, you are witnessing the work of a genius both in front of and behind the camera.

Christopher Nolan continues to prove why he is a modern-day master of film with Oppenheimer - a tour de force in every sense of the word from its story and characters to its editing and sound - a stunning biopic that is enhanced by an exceptional cast, along with its director.
J. Robert Oppenheimer's story may center mostly around the creation, testing and use of the world's first atomic bomb, but that isn't the whole story here. From his early days teaching (and dalliance with Communism which would come back to haunt him), his affair with Jean Tatlock as well as his marriage to Kitty - the film isn't afraid to delve into the more difficult parts of his life. The film also utilizes black and white to separate the sham trial put on by Admiral Lewis Strauss - whose long-held grudge with …
