Dinosaurs run amok but there's still a park

Ludicrous plot aside, I had a good time with this sequel being touted as the 'epic finale' for the now 29 year old movie franchise. Though I can see them doing more since it will probably make a lot of money.
It's cool seeing the original cast team up with the younger crew. Pratt and Howard are decent but newcomer DeWanda Wise comes close to stealing the show as a badass pilot. Campbell Scott is pretty bad as an evil tech CEO though. It's heartwarming to see Sam Neill and Laura Dern reprise their roles again as Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler. Although Jeff Goldblum is more fun to watch as Ian Malcolm again and he has the best one-liners.
Compared to the first two JW movies, one thing I appreciate about DOMINION is that it embraces its absurdness with gusto. There's a subplot with mutant …

Over-Indulgent, Messy But Wildly Entertaining

Secrets in the form of kidnapping Maise Lockwood (Isabella Sermon) who has been kept under close watch - and near prison conditions - by Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) after it is revealed she herself is a genetic clone of her own mother. But teens will be …

Just Because You Could, Doesn't Mean You Should

I've seen a lot of crummy first acts in my time but Dominion's is a true achievement in laziness. It's joyless in an almost deliberate way, contemptuous of its audience and the millions it will make at the box office, like someone had a gun to Universal's head to make this trilogy in the first place. It is an instant shot of adrenaline to the heart when the film's first action scene kicks in and the hidden cabal of people actually excited to work on this film show their hand in a mixed parkour, motorbike, and plane chase scene that is overflowing with fun, speed, and stupidity. From there the film limps to the finish line with occasional bursts of electric-prod induced speed, from an utterly psychotic Therizinosaurus to Steve Jobs having a temper tantrum. It's all mad as a March hare and …
