Basic but very entertaining, "Ocean's 8" recreates the slickness of the other films in the franchise.

It's better than Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016). But that's admittedly faint praise. An impressive ensemble of talented actresses-and Awkwafina-are not used to their full potential. The heist itself is amusing and provides brief entertainment as the movie comes to life at this point. It's just too derivative and slowly paced to be recommended. Harmless though if people are still curious.

Unlike some other attempts (Ghostbusters *cough*) this gender-swapped version of the Ocean's franchise works remarkably well. Thanks in part to an excellent cast, the film pops with the fun and humor of the previous films. Sure, I wish some characters had a bit more depth, but that has always been an issue. Gary Ross also got the actual Met on board, and Vogue - so if you like fashion, there you go. Just a nice, fun little film, with a lot of talent - interested to see where this goes next.
