I didn't expect this to be this quiet and slow. It is a quality animation and powerful visually, however, it didn't generate emotion and I felt really detached from the film, I don't know, maybe it's the culture or is it just not my preference. I'm an Asian myself, I thought I would like it more. But still a good one.

I adore Travis Knight’s work in Kubo and the Two Strings, as it was clearly a painstaking labor of love that included handmade costumes and even visual effects. It's nomination for Best Animated Feature seems assured even if the win is out of the picture.

Wanted to like this a lot more, but was left disappointed. Not bad by any means, just wasn't for me. The animation is fantastic through.

Despite being the lowest-grossing among the Laika releases, Kubo and the Two Strings is easily the most impressive stop-motion animated film to date. Granted, I think the story is little dark for the younger crowd, but story-wise, character-wise and animation-wise it is among the top tier as far as I'm concerned. Plus, the cast is spot-on and bring true life to their characters. This is a true animated treasure that shouldn't be missed.

Kubos Mutter warnt i...

Creative, Original Masterwork of Animation

'Kubo and the Two Strings' is Laika studio's most visually impressive film to date. Stop-motion animation is taken to new highs. The advancements in this realm of animation make 'Kubo' stand out as a masterwork of specific craft. Laika have really pushed the limits with this one. A gorgeous array of unique character and set designs call to mind the aesthetic of anime cinema. Elements of that genre are at play, but it's melded in a way which sees the film carve out it's own identity. It has universal appeal through the simple, yet very effective, fairy tale action/adventure story. A deft balance of comedy, tragedy, thrills, and wonderment are seamlessly integrated into a touching story of a young hero's journey. A creative plot offers up continuous imaginative sequences of unpredic...
