Probably more violence than needed, but Casey Affleck really showed some acting chops here. A great supporting cast (though the women seem more of an afterthought) makes this a pretty killer movie, though I agree with other reviewers that the end was a bit of a letdown. Still, overall a dark, disturbing yet fascinating noir-thriller.

Casey Afflecks character Lou Ford should get an award for Best Villain at any of the movie award shows out there or at least a nomination. His character should also be on any 50-100 Greatest Villains Of All Time List. This movie was at times VERY painful to watch & if Michael Winterbottom was going for shock then he definitely shocked me.Also it had a GREAT ending that I did not see coming

The movie kept my interest all throughout, then it got to the end and it was a total disappointment. Maybe it was the cheesiness of it, I don't know, but it was very anti-climactic...not that I expected a whole hell of a lot, but something that would have made me say, "damn that was a good movie" instead of "what in the hell did I just watch" would have been a lot better

The Killer Inside Me (review)

A dark noir thriller with an unexpected conclusion and black humor for its genre. Deputy Sheriff Lou Ford (Casey Affleck) was asked to check on a prostitute Joyce Lakeland (Jessica Alba). After a murder things go hairy and Howard Hendricks (Simon Baker) tries his best to resolve the murders. Amy (Kate Hudson) suspects something is going on with Lou. Screenplay was good with lines: "You know, I figure that you don't get any more out of life than what you put into it." and "Haste makes waste." Only qualms this reviewer had were the overdone lovemaking scenes (unlike Lost Highway it connected to the plot) and dialogue somewhat repetitive. Casey Affleck was effective and chilling. Hudson despite her acting range was not fully utilized here. The Killer Inside Me is a crime flick about …

A mushy noir

Bri - wrote on 12/12/2010

As a noir thriller, this strange little movie has its moments. But it doesn't seem to just be a noir, or at least people aren't content to take it that way. The main character, played with the perfect amount of creepy non-emotion by Casey Affleck, doesn't really have a lot of motivation for the horrible things he does, save for a half-explained revenge scheme. Mostly he seems to enjoy bashing the hell out of women, and for the admittedly brutal violence against women, a lot of people were angry that it even made it to Sundance. My problem was more with the fact that the movie has no idea what the protagonist's motivation is! The female characters are poorly written and poorly acted (Jessica Alba is utterly forgettable, as usual). Bill Pullman has an inexplicable cameo. The movie just …

Violent, Yet Well Done

I was able to see this with Movies On Demand in my own living room, even before it is released to theaters. Pretty good idea for these types of films. I felt this was a really good movie. One of the better ones I have seen since Oscar Season.

Casey Affleck (who is infinitely better than Big Ben), does a stellar job as a small town Deputy Sheriff (or something like that) in the mid 20th century. Not only was his performance good, the whole cast acted really well.

The story is interesting - a killers story told in the first person. So for once, we are finally able to see what a killer is thinking and why the person does it. I was never really bored and I enjoy watching the entire story. I can't say a whole lot about it other than it is definitely worth watching.

Be careful. It …
