Briskly paced action-war film about an American adventurer aiding the escape of a pretty teacher and her Chinese students from Japanese invaders. Alan Ladd is very good as the hard edged but heroic lead Mr. Jones who dresses very similar to a later Spielberg & Lucas creation. Loretta Young is a likable love interest and William Bendix has a nice part as Jones' sidekick. The action is well done for these types of WW2 rabble-rousers and there are some shocking scenes of wartime brutality.
