OK, so my four-star rating, in this case, reflects a most definite bias due to the movie's subject. The movie may not be a masterpiece, but Thelonious Monk is an undersung American treasure, and his odd and other-wordly music and mannerisms make this movie worth watching for anyone--but particularly for Monk music lovers like me. I'm just glad Clint Eastwood git it made and I'm glad director Charlotte Zwerin stayed true to the music man's spirit.
