What's Blue, Wet and Twisted?

Shinya Tsukamoto proves once again takes risky subject matter and turns it into art. It has shades of David Lynch, with plenty of disturbing visuals, yet has an erotic undercurrent (that does eventually boil over) throughout. If there's one downfall, it's that the characters are all kind of icky. You have a sweet, young woman who turns out to be a closet exhibitionist, a meek husband who has a cleaning fetish and would rather have his wife keep two breasts rather than treat her cancer and a stalker/voyeur who is also dying and wants to make someone else pay.
Still, this is Tsukamoto, the man who brought us Tetsuo and Nightmare Detective, so likable characters are not at the top of his list. Luckily he can spin a tale, that while it may leave a sour taste in your mouth, will also leave …
