Charles Boyer and Lauren Bacall star in this stylish looking but pretty flat spy flick. He plays an agent for the Republican cause in the Spanish Civil War who goes to London to sabotage the Fascists' effort to acquire more coal for the war effort. Excited yet? It feels like one of those wartime romantic thrillers that should star Humphrey Bogart. But he's nowhere to be found. Katina Paxinou has a nice role as a treacherous double agent. Peter Lorre shows up too and he's not bad. Unfortunately, the two leads have no chemistry together.
