I can't put my finger on why I liked this so much - but the atmosphere, the setting - it evoked the era and it worked for me. Plus, for once John Leguizamo wasn't annoying.

The swarmy climate and historical atmosphere fear is skillfully recreated, but the plot drags on and Lee tries to bring racial undertones (as always) into the film, which doesn't quite work. Also, the talking dog (you'll see) comes across as corny.

I think I'm in love with Jennifer Esposito.

I really wanted this to be a good movie. When I read about it and I saw the previews for it I thought that this would be kind of cool. At the time I had read a book about a number of famous serial killers and one of the chapters was on the Son of Sam. Then...well.... the movie was just bad. What starts off as a cool movie about David Berkowitz turns into a movie with a ton of filler, mostly sex scenes, and a couple of story lines that just trail off into nowhere completely missing the direction the film should have gone in. The cast did a good job with what they were given, but the direction of the movie was misplaced and really should have stuck with the original premise of the year long string of terror that Berkowitz brought to the city in 1977.
This movie is beyond rescue …
