A western big in importance, big enough to be known and appreciated. Shane is a story about love, perseverance and partnership. 90/100

Shane is an interesting, somewhat ambiguous, do-gooder. It has a good beginning and ending, but the middle is muddled with a needlessly drawn out situation between bland cowboys of opposing force. The instal conflict lacks any tension or investment due to the characters. Two elongated fist fights and a brief climactic quick-draw are the best bits. And I found that kid annoying often. Not worthy of the praise.

I think that Shane makes a compelling hero and the ending is appropriately ambiguous, but, the majority of the movie is too cookie cutter to be that interesting of a Western. The villains are simply bad and Shane is white as snow and that doesn't make for interesting interactions.
