It's not that it's bad, it's just that it should be so much better with such a talented cast and crew. Still it all seems somewhat forced-from the dialogue to the sweeping camera shots

It wasn't quite as good as what I thought it'd be. But, it's still pretty good.

This stagnant and overlong melodrama is beautiful to look at and the production values are tops, but the romance is never believable and it's biggest problem is gathering together an ethnically diverse Asian cast and forcing them all to speak English. Final Grade: C+

This could have been a lesser movie. I would have definitely given it 2.5 stars instead of 3, but there are somethings that stood out. First of all, the actresses they picked were phenomenal. Secondly, the screenplay by Robin Swicord worked well. I always look forward to her movies.

I think I can watch everything that Ziyi Zhang could make, since she's dang gorgeous. BUT... although, I haven't read the book, I don't like such an anachronism with a japanese chick being played by a chinese. (Different the case of Gael playing Che, at least he speaks español) So, leaving that out of the road, I've to say that is a very well done movie, with a fantastic score, and a cool art concept. Avoid by all means if you expect some accuracy with the original stuff.
