Danny Boyle lends his hand at a darkly comedic yet strangely sweet fantasy. Cameron Diaz is wonderful as the spoiled sexy heiress who’s charmed by a hapless janitor (MacGregor) who unintentionally kidnaps her. Watching their romance blossom are two angels (Hunter, Lindo) assigned to make sure they fall in love. The setup is undeniably weird. And it’s kind of obvious after a while that the supernatural element is meant to serve as a sort of cheat code for a fulfilling end. But I had fun with it. Good soundtrack as well.

First, there are angels. If you don't believe in such things this movie will annoy you whenever the angels are on the scene. If you do believe in angels you may be angry at the strange, "comedic" way they're portrayed. The casting is good, with several people who can actually act, but there's not much to be done with this mess. I suppose this was intended as some variant of "madcap romp". Many tired plot devices. I saw it through in ever-dwindling hope of something being worth my time. It wasn't. I don't plan to ever see this again.
